In/Motion: Chicago's First Dance Film Festival

IN/MOTION, the first Chicago dance film festival of its kind, celebrates dance performance within digital media platforms by fostering innovation in the presentation of movement-based artworks and encouraging artists to engage in interdisciplinary collaboration. This year’s IN/Motion is jam-packed with social justice! Events will include a reception and live dance performance at IES following a screening of the award winning documentary Trash Dance; a screening of Capturing Grace with a live dance demonstration performed by Hubbard Street’s Parkinson’s Project participants; and a curated screening of local artists’ dance/digital media work. Join us for three exciting days of dance film programming including screenings, discussions, and site-specific live dance performances. Partnerships include the Hubbard Street Dance Chicago Parkinson’s Project, ADA25, and Loyola’s Institute for Environmental Sustainability. More information below and all events are FREE!

  • Friday October 23rd 6:00 PM – 9:00 PM Damen Center, Juried Short Films Screening and Q/A with filmmakers
  • Saturday October 24th 1:00 PM – 4:00 PM Mundelein Rm 409 – Screening of Capturing Grace and live dance response in collaboration with Hubbard Street Dance Chicago’s Parkinson’s Project Chicago.
  • Sunday October 25th 1:00 PM – 4:00 PM Institute for Environmental Sustainability – Join us for a reception and live dance performance by Loyola Dance Theatre to celebrate the screening of Trash Dance.
