Khecari artistic directors Julia Rae Antonick and Jonathan Meyer are looking for dancers with an interest in our work.
We have a somatically grounded approach to dance, a strong interest in improvisation, and a penchant for highly kinetic movement and intricate partnering work, and are looking for dancers with similar interests and experience.
The audition will be structured as a free workshop; we will not be making cuts. While we are seeking dancers for future projects, we do not anticipate making any decisions immediately following this audition. We’re looking to meet and work with a broadened group of dancers, to extend our sense of the capabilities and interests of dancers currently in the field. Any dancers eventually hired for projects would be paid; we offer $10/hour. If you have been to a previous audition, we encourage you to come back to express interest in working with Khecari. Dancers are also welcome to come to the audition simply as a free workshop.
Although it is not required, we strongly encourage you to attend one or more of our classes at Revere Park or Lou Conte. These classes will help us be able to introduce you to some movement themes we will focus on in the audition and give us a chance to interact with you more:

Contemporary Dance and Body-Mind Centering class series at Revere
with Jonathan Meyer
March 16, 18, 23, 25 6-8pm $10 drop-in (cash only)
This two week series explores principals of Body-Mind Centering for the first half of class, supporting embodiment and active somatic presence, and then explodes into energetic, full body movement combinations using floor work, weightedness, and unusual coordination. Participants are welcome to stay for just the first hour or the entire class. The second hour is geared toward advanced dance professionals, the first hour is open to all levels.
