“The Nearest Place”: In the midst of Chicago's unyielding winter, choreographer Emma Draves and her ensemble join Ashley Deran and Emily Loar of Project Bound Dance to present The Nearest Place at Links Hall February 28th through March 1st. Draves, Deran, and Loar present a series of solos and group works including live music from Nine Worlds Ensemble artists Thor Bremer & Stephanie Young. “The Nearest Place” is a cozy evening of music and dance exploring themes of safety, hibernation, intimacy, cohabitation, warmth, and empathy.
The split-bill will feature a mix of new and repertoire works. Emma Draves will be premiering “Succour” and “With Every Breath I Die”. Project Bound Dance will be premiering a new duet by Emily Loar, “ I Don’t Know How to Make This Matter” as well as remounting two solo works, “A Theory on Staying” and “Excerpt 1”.
