In 2015, Lucky Plush Productions will celebrate our fifteenth anniversary with an event, Plucky Lush 2015, hosted on April 30 at Mana Contemporary Chicago. Plucky Lush will feature a VIP pre-reception with the artists and event guests will enjoy hors d’oeuvres, cocktails, pop-up performances, and dancing.
Plucky Lush will kick off a yearlong series of events leading up to the world premiere of Trip the Light Fantastic: The Making of SuperStrip, co-commissioned and presented by the Harris Theater for Music and Dance in March 2016. Trip the Light Fantastic draws from classic pulp novels and comic books in a blend of dance, theater, and visual design that moves between live performance and projected video in unexpected ways. Loosely inspired by the sensational stories and larger-than-life characters in classic pulp magazines, the work follows a group of washed up superheroes attempting to reinvent themselves by starting a nonprofit think tank for do-gooders.
