Kalapriya presents PRAVAAH - The Elegant Flow, a 10-week introductory Kathak Course with Ameera Nimjee. It will introduce the basics of Kathak's movement vocabulary, stylistically pioneered by maestro, the late Pandit Chitresh Das. Uniquely exploring the relationship between Kathak and Hindustani music, it will facilitate the learning of lai and taal through clapping, recitation, and Kathak footwork. The class will cumulatively build on beginner movement exercises, footwork, compositions, repertoire, and traditional poems to empower beginner dancers to perform in the beautiful aesthetic form of Kathak. We will also explore Kathak yoga, in which a dancer recites, sings, and dances.
