Event Description

Curious and Curiouser… join Salt Creek Ballet for a magical and memorable trip down the rabbit hole. Salt Creek Ballet presents “Alice in Wonderland,” at McAninch Arts Center at The College of DuPage, Glen Ellyn, Saturday, May 14th at 2 p.m. and 5 p.m.  Filled with tea parties, colorful characters and superb dancing, this fantastically conceived dance performance is a perennial audience favorite – perfect for young and old alike. Each ticket includes access to a kids' Mad Hatter Tea Party taking place from 3:30-4:30 p.m. (between the 2 p.m. and 5 p.m. shows).

This magical production features 38 dancers as well as 5 guest artists tracing Alice’s adventures as she encounters the illusive White Rabbit, the Wily Cheshire Cat, the overbearing Queen of Hearts and many other strange and wondrous creatures. With a total performance time of 1 hour and 30 minutes (which includes a 20 minute intermission), it is the perfect opportunity to introduce young children to the beauty of ballet.
Following a nationwide search, Salt Creek Ballet is thrilled to announce the appointment of two new artistic leaders, Ms. Erica De La O, as Artistic Director, and her husband, Kristopher Wojtera, as Associate Ballet Director. The duo are proven leaders with decades of experience in dance performance, teaching, and business, recognizing the demands of the professional world. Both directors have had international careers as principal dancers performing classical and contemporary repertoire, and have choreographed full-length ballets for professional companies.  Ms. De La O and Mr. Wojtera know what it takes to train successful dancers to succeed professionally. Both studied Vaganova and Cuban ballet pedagogy, have MFAs in dance, and are sought-after guest teachers at ballet schools, dance companies, and universities across the United States. Ms. De La O also holds an Executive MBA which assists her on the business side of dance as well.
Salt Creek Ballet offers a rigorous curriculum in classical and contemporary ballet that prepares students for professional careers in dance.  Rooted in Vaganova and Cuban pedagogical practices, the curriculum gives students a global perspective on dance by introducing them to diverse movement genres that complement their intensive classical ballet training. Salt Creek Ballet inspires people to live with art, create art, support art and be art and believes that dance transforms lives, communities, and people. Salt Creek Ballet is a not-for-profit Illinois corporation supported in part by the Illinois Arts Council Agency through federal funds provided by the National Endowment for the Arts and The Grover Hermann Foundation.

The McAninch Arts Center is located at 425 Fawell Blvd. Glen Ellyn, IL 60137. Ticket prices for adults range from $31-$35, and $26-$30 for children and seniors.
