Event Description

Created & Choreographed by Samantha Virgilio

In Collaboration with Claudia Moreno, Brittany Burns, Law Chan, Sarah Schiff-Berger

Love should never hurt.

Trapping Butterflies shares the experiences of survivors, victims, grieving loved ones, and allies of domestic violence. The show works to give a voice to those who still sit in silence and fear, and carries on a message from those who have been silenced forever. Choreographer, Samantha Virgilio, explores the signs, symptoms, effects, and social stigmas surrounding the issue of domestic violence through true stories and events as stories formerly kept outside the public eye are exposed onstage. Resources for victims and loved ones will be available at the event. Talk-back to follow the performance.

In loving memory of Ashley Nichole Hall (July 30, 1985- December 1, 2013)

'This show is a celebration of Ashley’s beautiful presence on this Earth, and a way to tell the world about Ashley’s story in order to prevent others from suffering as she did. The media has forgotten her and her fellow butterflies, but we never will. I encourage everyone to look up Ashley’s story. Don’t let the world forget our beaten angels.' -Danielle Wirsansky, Uloop
