Matter Dance Company is proudly unveiling its ninth full-length concert, Unlocked, running June 25-27 at Stage 773. Unlocked will present a range of dance styles, from tap to hip-hop to contemporary to modern, through an audience-interactive performance that will pique your curiosities. Given the eclectic styles of MDC choreographers, Unlocked promises to bring their audiences a show that will surprise, delight, and inspire.
Matter Dance company believes dance should be created for the audience as well as the dancers. MDC's goal is to make their audience think, laugh, and want to experience dance. MDC founders Gail Adduci Gogliotti and Carisa Barreca have diverse backgrounds that include theater, dance therapy, and sketch comedy. Their unique perspectives blend perfectly for the upcoming show, which prides itself on having something for everyone.
Matter Dance Company is currently under the direction of Barreca, Gogliotti, and Niki Wilk Mahon. MDC has been named the Chicago Reader's Best Dance Company (Readers' Choice) in 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, and 2014. Barreca has also been named Best Choreographer in 2009, 2012, and 2013.
