As the final installment of the Art + Activism performance series, What We Carried, also is the official launch of Chicago Danztheatre Ensemble’s 20th anniversary season. Chicago’s vast cultural terrain is enhanced and strengthened by the voices of those who seek asylum in this country, in our neighborhoods, and in the city we call, “home.” What We Carried, directed and devised by Maggie Robinson with ensemble, brings these voices to life in an immersive sculptural and evening-length danztheatre collaboration with artist, Jean Parisi, to share the voices, stories, struggles, and triumphs of local immigrant individuals and families in the Chicagoland area. The collection of these stories aims to build community and a safe place for all come here, as well as further the dialogue of protecting immigration rights.
