Inaside Chicago Dance: Celebrating 10 Years of Jazz Dance
Celebrate Jazz dance in Chicago with Inaside Chicago Dance’s weekend of explosively entertaining music and movement. In honor of its 10th season of integrity, passion, and pride, Inaside will present new dance works and repertory favorites at the Athenaeum Theatre April 25th and 26th at 8pm.
New works premiering will include Six Stevies, a spirited piece by Preston Miller featuring the vivid music of Stevie Wonder and My Side by Kirsten Harvey, Inaside’s 2014 Choreographic Sponsor. An exploration of the complex relationships that exist between siblings, relatives, and loved ones, My Side It is a lighthearted-look at the connections that in one moment are represented by loving gestures and the next in loathing glares. The program will also feature a new duet by company member, Sarah Ford.
Inaside will also highlight works previously created for the company including Autumn Eckman’s playful take on “boy meets girl” in A Lot Like Love and the critically acclaimed Mink, Jazz, and Swing: Dancing to the Music of Miss Peggy Lee by Harrison McEldowney and Tony Savino. Please join us in celebrating the monumental significance Inaside has had on jazz dance in the Chicago Community.
Tickets for the performances are $30 for adults and $20 for students, seniors and dancers. Following the Saturday performance there will be a special 2 hour anniversary reception at the Diag Bar and Grill. Mix and mingle with the artistic minds behind Inaside Chicago Dance while noshing appetizers and sipping beverages. The performance will be located at 2936 N Southport Ave. Reception will be located at 2856 N Southport. Tickets may be purchased online at www.athenaeumtheatre.org or by calling 773.935.6875.
