Ballet 5:8's five-week summer intensive is an opportunity for dancers to make technical gains, increase artistry, explore choreography, and deepen their faith - all in a uniquely nurturing environment where students thrive.
Summer intensive classes are taught by Ballet 5:8 Artistic Director Julianna Slager, Artists of the Ballet 5:8 professional company, and world-class guest instructors. Classes take place inside Ballet 5:8's 7,000 square foot building in Frankfort, Illinois, about a 35-minute drive from downtown Chicago. Ballet technique is informed by Ballet 5:8 School of the Arts' comprehensive Vaganova-style training syllabus, stressing proper placement, strength and flexibility while incorporating the contemporary sensibilities required in today's athletic, high-energy professional dance field. An intensive class and rehearsal schedule gives students a true opportunity for growth, while Ballet 5:8's commitment to teaching in light of the health of the entire dancer - the body and the mind - allows students to thrive. The intensive is infused with Ballet 5:8's Christian basis and invites dancers into conversation of life and faith through Bible study, small group discussion and the stories told in Ballet 5:8's diverse repertoire.
