Event Description

EveryBody Can Dance! is an integrated movement workshop for people with a disability and people without a disability. We believe that the art form of dance is accessible to everyone.  We believe that everyone can dance and that dance is for everyone. Within each of us lies a creative potential for movement. Our workshops use structured improvisation and dance games to explore that potential. Every workshop is oriented around a theme for the day.

EveryBody Can Dance! is for beginning dancers, trained dancers, and people who just love to move. We enjoy working with people of all abilities and ages 9-Adult.

Each workshop begins with a warm-up and an ice-breaker so that we may get to know one another and begin to understand how each of us is unique. From there we can begin to move together and into the space around us.
The technique portion of each workshop focuses on the universal building blocks of movement:  breath, weight, spatial awareness, human connection & interaction, locomotion, and sequence.

When the group is ready we begin working on choreography. Everyone works together to create. At the end of the day we share our creations with one another.

We are always looking to identify and train dance artists. Committed participants who have expressed a dedicated interest in performance and/or choreography may be invited to join our integrated dance company, MOMENTA.
