¡Baila Conmigo!/Dance With Me! is thrilled to welcome to our studio renown choreographer, dancer, and professor emerita Margot Mink Colbert, Sunday November 27, 2022 at 2 p.m. You won’t want to miss this wonderful opportunity to meet who the Wisconsin Capitol Times called “the maverick of dance.”
Students of our studio will present a short program of three signature dances she has given us permission to re-stage. Family members, former students and company members have assembled a wonderful photographic career retrospective showing the depth and breadth of Margot's artistic expression, and teaching style. Over the years, Margot Mink Colbert has remained an important professional and artistic influence on studio owner Margo Ruark.
Additionally, Margot Mink Colbert will share highlights of her 60 + year career beginning at New York City’s High School of the Performing Arts, and The Juilliard School, where she earned a B.S in Dance Performance and Choreography. Margot studied ballet with Antony Tudor and Margaret Craske. At Julliard she studied modern dance with Martha Graham and composition with Louis Horst, two great pioneers of American modern dance. Margot Mink Colbert danced as a professional dancer, was a dance educator in the public schools in New York City and later served as Senior Lecturer at the University of Wisconsin Dance Department and as full Professor at the University of Nevada-Las Vegas. Her works have been performed worldwide by her company Ballet Mink in Denmark, Russia, Israel as well as in the cultural centers of the United States.
A reception will follow the program.
