Event Description
Kathak is a classical dance form with ~5000 years of history. We will reflect on its journey through the ages.
This program will showcase how Kathak has evolved with the changing milieu, music, culture and customs in the Indian sub-continent. We will start with compositions from as far back as 2500 years and end with the contemporary. The choreographies and music range from the traditional to the modern, and from the technical to the experimental.
The transformation of Kathak over its lifetime is impressive but more impressive is its adaptability for the times.
