Murmuration weaves together improvisational dance, texts written by the ensemble, and original music by Robert Hornbostel. This experimental work explores the intersection of individuality and community. The dancers move through a variety of contemporary senarios of mind and imagination in a dynamic, joyful, and thouhgtful fashion. Each performance will be unique, offering approaches to the question of how to balance self and society. A murmuration is a flock of starings; as they move in large groups, they ebb and flow gracefully though the sky, forming ever-changing patterns. humans, similarly, need to find our flock, but just as no two birds fly exactly the same way, each person must also find their own voice and identity.
