Chicago Dance Crash is looking for athletic & diverse dancers for our 2016 Season. Contracts run from Feb. 2nd to Dec. 10th, 2016.
Described by the Chicago Tribune as "a compelling mixture of ballet, hip hop, and dangerous acrobatics" and Dance Magazine as "Matthew Bourne, but with a more primitive, ritualistic, streetwise attack", Crash will be entering its 14th Season of 50+ performances including repertory concerts, freestyle works, full-length productions, school assemblies, battles, and site-specific installations performed locally and across the U.S.
Artistic Director Jessica Deahr will be looking for male and female dancers with strong hip hop and/or contemporary technique. Gymnastics or acrobatic experience is a plus. Audition will consist of a barefoot, contemporary combination followed by a hip hop combination (shoes preferred by not required). Selected dancers may be asked to perform a very short freestyle to music of Crash's choice. A group warm up will not be provided though all are welcome to arrive as early as 12:30 to prepare. Headshots and resumes are accepted but not at all required. Audition begins promptly at 1pm and will go no later than 4pm.
There is NO fee to audition.
Dancers invited to join the 2016 Performance Ensemble will be required to relocate to Chicago, IL. Company dancers are paid a monthly rehearsal retainer beginning February 1st, 2016 as well as performance stipends and travel. One unpaid performing apprentice is selected annually.
