Willingly sitting on hold: 'Saluti, Grace Palmer' is a poignant gaze at women at work

We stood in the lobby, 15 minutes past start time, with no program and no hint at what was about to happen, waiting. Then the doors opened and a full Links Hall whitebox audience sat waiting, classic hold music acting as the cherry on top of the early ‘90s office setting before us. Ten minutes went by and the music stopped, the audience quiet and readily waiting.

In came more hold music.

Submit your proposal to become a featured event in our 2019 Fall Dance Season Brochure (10,000 printed pieces, 16 full-color pages, distributed to numerous Chicagoland locations). All members are guaranteed a free calendar listing if their events are posted on SeeChicagoDance.com by June 30, 2019 but will need to submit this form to be considered for a featured event placement. Feature event proposals are due at 5:00pm on MONDAY, JUNE 17, 2019.

VADCO has been producing professional choreographic works locally, nationally, and internationally since 1991. The company's repertory is diverse, athletic, and passionate. VADCO is looking for versatile dancers with strong technique. All positions are paid rehearsal and project contracts.

Pygmalion meets Grotowski in Boris Eifman’s “The Pygmalion Effect,” receiving its North American premiere at Chicago’s Auditorium Theatre this weekend.

The Eifman Ballet of St.Petersburg, Russia, established in 1977, first graced the Auditorium stage in 2000, and has appeared there biannually since 2009.

At the Roundhouse, Red Clay celebrates 10 years of putting African diaspora stories first

This year marked several milestone anniversaries for some of the most important and influential voices, companies and organizations in Chicago’s dance community. Among them, Red Clay Dance—an Afro-contemporary dance company founded by dancer/choreographer Vershawn Sanders-Ward, celebrates 10 years of “creating, performing and teaching dances of the African Diaspora” on the South side of Chicago.
