Audition with Synapse Arts
We are expanding our ensemble to eight members for the 2017/18 season! Join us for a workshop/audition that blends dance, improvisation, and choreography.
Pre-registration is required, and is limited to 24 participants.
Sunday, September 10th, 2017
At Loyola Park - 1230 W. Greenleaf Ave in Rogers Park
1:30-2pm: check in and individual warmup
The audition will include contemporary dance technique exercises, learning choreography, formulating your own choreography, partnering, and movement improvisation with props. Please plan to stay for the full time, we will not be making "cuts".
What to bring:
A printed copy of your 1-2 page resume with two professional references. Alternately, you can email your resume/references to firstname.lastname@example.org by 12pm on September 9th.
You will not need a headshot. We will give you a name tag and take your photo as part of check in. Athletic clothing and bare feet are recommended. Bring kneepads if you'd like to have them.
There is no fee to audition.
Founded in 2004, Synapse Arts creates dance-theater performances that incorporate live sound, voice, stage design, projections, costuming, textiles, lighting, and visual art.
Each dancer is also a collaborator. We are looking for people who are skilled movers and are interested in exploring the intellectual and emotional aspects of movement. Dancers/collaborators handle stage design elements such as handheld lights as part of all performances.
Synapse is an Arts Partner in Residence at Loyola Park, and company rehearsals take place at Loyola Park on Tuesdays and Thursdays, during the daytime. Consistent availability for these rehearsals (beginning in late September) is necessary to become a part of the ensemble.
Ensemble members are paid for rehearsals and performances.
