The third Chicago International Puppet Theater Festival biennial showcases the very best of puppetry arts from around the world. The Dance Center hosts French/Norwegian puppet company Plexus Polaire.Chambre noire(Dark Room) is based on the life and death of radical American feminist and “SCUM Manifesto” author Valerie Jean Solanas—most well-known for attempting to kill Andy Warhol. A duet between puppeteer Yngvild Aspeli and percussionist Ane Marthe Sørlien Holen and staged around Solanas's death-bed, Chambre noireemploys life-sized puppets, video projections, a dose of dark humor, and a chaotic cabaret of sound to illuminate the story of an outrageously complex woman.

This performance is recommended for ages 16 and older.
