Event Description
In honor of the 41st Annual American Spanish Dance and Music Festival, Raíces: Yesterday is Tomorrow examines the roots of Spanish dance, and its importance to traditional and contemporary creation. Featuring the revival of the beloved Madrileño from Madrid’s 1850’s era, choreographed for the Ensemble Español by Paco Alonso from Barcelona in 1989. The revival will be restaged with new costume designs by Irma Suárez-Ruíz, artistic director. Joining the suite of Madrileño will be guest soprano, Sasha Gerritson and tenor, Luis Gálvez.
