Founded in 1976 by artistic director, Dame Libby Komaiko, the Ensemble Espanol serves as the National center for Spanish dance presenting unparalled artistic productions in the classical, folkloric and flamenco styles. Fostering artistic excellence, encouraging and promoting the creation of new works and the educational growth of young artists, the Ensemble's cast of 40 dancers, singers, choreographers and teachers, represent a mosaic of cultures from around the world.
As the premiere Spanish Dance Center in America in residence at Northeastern Illinois University, Chicago, the company unites Spain with America's diverse modern world cultures honoring the Ibero-Hispanic experience in the U.S. today.
Children's Spanish Dance classes are taught by professional Ensemble Espanol artistic staff. Whether your child is just starting out or a seasoned dancer, you will find a class that suits your child's level and age. Classes are taught at the Ensemble Espanol studios on the Northeastern Illinois University campus in the J Building Dance Studio.
The new adult Flamenco evening classes are intended for persons of all ages. The classes are designed for beginning students with no prior Flamenco dance experience as well as for the professional dancer. Whether you are someone who wants to learn the art of Flamenco for the first time or a busy, working professional there is a class for you.
