Part dance, ritual, poetry and fantasy, The People’s Church of the G.H.E.T.T.O (Greatest History Ever Told To Our People) is a re-imagined worship service rooted in the life and work of Audre Lorde and dedicated to the edification and education of black women doing their work.
Created by Po’Chop, with support from Chicago Dancemakers Forum and Pivot Arts Festival, The People’s Church of the G.H.E.T.T.O invites your to join us for our culminating series of services created to uplift the legacies of black women whose work impacted Bronzeville. These intimate services will feature Chicago based artists Tiff Beatty, Avery R Young, Felicia Holman and Shimmy La Roux. Join us as we show appreciation and praise for Jackie Ormes, Elder Lucy Smith and Beauty Turner.
