Explore the intersection of dance + visual art!
Dance: A Moving Canvas is an exciting new series that offers attendees, particularly those who are new to dance, opportunities to deepen their understanding of choreography and enjoy the beauty of dance. This program provides audiences with guided methods to dive into dance in a festive, informal atmosphere.
This program connects visual art with dance performance in new and fresh ways. The process begins weeks in advance, with visual artists and choreographers coming together to be inspired by one another's works. On the night of each Moving Canvas event, with guidance from emcee Zachary Wittenburg, audience members have the opportunity to ask questions, and play with and change the choreographic work within the gallery setting. In addition to lively conversation, attendees will also enjoy delicious appetizers and wine, thanks to our sponsors from Whole Foods and Apothic Wine. Don't miss this unique evening of dance and visual art fusion.
Upcoming Events include:
-
THE NEXUS PROJECT; work by Benjamin Wardell and Michel Rodriguez (April 16)
-
AYAKO KATO/ ART UNION HUMANSCAPE (June 4)
The featured works of visual art on April 16 are by the Chicago Artists Coalition's HATCH Projects artist residents Delaney DeMott, Hope Esser, and Megan Stroech. Curated by HATCH Curator Resident Alexandria Eregbu.
Moving Canvas is part of a national initative called Engaging Dance Audiences, funded by the Doris Duke Charitable Foundation and administered by Dance/USA. Each artist has been awarded a grant to fund their creative endeavors, plus marketing and promotional support from Audience Architects.
