Joffrey Ravinia program dazzles with changing season

In this season of change from summer to autumn, the world, our country, and our communities stand poised on the brink. Disease, heart wrenching disaster and devastation, and global warming are looming around the world. Gun violence is on the rise. A political quagmire divides our nation. And yet we go to work, school and recreational activities, we buy groceries, go shopping, cook and clean, and gather with friends and family. And if we are very lucky, we go to the ballet!

Embrace

Embrace unveils memories of a month-long trip to South America. On this journey, choreographer Ginny Ching-Yin Lo, explores the passion of Tango, the duality of youthful exuberance even in the presence of adversity, reminiscence of her own mother, and empowering voices still to be heard, through four debut dance creations.

"Entwined" embodies the curiosity and passion of Tango in Buenos Aires, Argentina, inviting us to embrace the beauty of connection.

Eco and social justice in “Through Fish Eyes” and “She’s Auspicious”

The temperature is cooling down, but for Chicago dancers the Fall season is where things really start to heat up! Kicking off their Fall season with a bang is Kalapriya Center for Indian Performing Arts, who are presenting two series of works this September: four free public performances of “Through Fish Eyes,” choreographed by Kasi Aysola and featuring Maryland-based Prakriti Dance; and “She’s Auspicious,” a work by Mythili Prakash exploring the interchange between goddess worship and the treatment of women in society.
