Overview

Ashley Fargnoli is a dancer, choreographer, and dance/movement therapist. Originally from Philadelphia, Ashley trained on full scholarship at the Rock School of the Pennsylvania Ballet and performed company roles in Balanchine’s The Nutcracker and A Midsummer Night’s Dream. She additionally trained in ballet and modern dance at the American Ballet Theater, Pennsylvania Academy of Ballet, and Central Pennsylvania Youth Ballet. Ashley spent eight years of her young adulthood living abroad in India, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and France, all of which have informed her movement and creative processes. She honed her choreographic skills at Jacob’s Pillow's Choreographers Lab and has implemented numerous dance projects around the Balkans with the goal of ethnic reconciliation. Ashley’s choreography has appeared in Bosnia at the Mostar Blues Festival, the National Theater of Mostar, United World College Mostar, and Genesis Sarajevo Dance Theater, as well as in Serbia at the Rex Kulturni Centar. In Chicago, she has set works on students in Columbia College Chicago’s dance/movement therapy program and has collaborated with Emily Stein, Kalapriya Center for Indian Performing Arts, J. Lindsay Brown Dance and Innervation Dance Cooperative. When not performing or choreographing, Ashley works with refugees as a dance/movement therapist.
