Pick-Staiger Concert Hall is located on the shore of Lake Michigan on Northwestern University's Evanston campus. The concert hall, which opened in October 1975, was made possible by generous gifts from Albert Pick, Jr. and Charles G. Staiger, who dedicated the edifice to their wives Corinne Frada Pick and Pauline Pick-Staiger.
Since its inception the hall has functioned as both a classroom and performance facility for Bienen School of Music performing ensembles, faculty recitals, festivals, and professional guest artists. A typical season of programming includes orchestral, wind ensemble, choral, opera, chamber, jazz, folk, world, contemporary, brass, and percussion concerts as well as solo recitals, lectures, master classes, and other related events.
Pick-Staiger's diverse programming is designed to showcase the developing talent of Bienen School of Music students; to promote interaction among faculty members, students, and professional artists; and to provide affordable cultural presentations to the community at large.
Pick-Staiger is also home to professional performance organizations such as The Chicago Chamber Musicians, Chicago Philharmonic, Northshore Concert Band, Evanston Symphony Orchestra, and others who rent facilities from the Bienen School of Music.
